Was my Springfield roof hit by the April 28, 2026 hail?

What does a hail damage roof inspection include?

We climb the roof and inspect it by hand instead of looking from the driveway or flying a drone. We check shingles for bruises and granule loss, look at vents, flashing and gutters, and go into the attic for signs of leaks. You get photos and a video tour of everything we find, damaged or not.

Dents on gutters, downspouts and AC fins are a quick sign of how big the hail was at your house. See how our free roof inspection works in more detail.

Should I call a roofer or my insurance company first after hail?

A free inspection first helps you understand what is actually damaged before you decide whether to file. With photos and video of the roof, you and your adjuster work from the same evidence. If you file, your Midwest Roofing sales representative meets the adjuster at your home to walk the roof together.

Missouri law (RSMo 407.725) sets rules for roofing contracts tied to insurance claims, and we follow them. Not sure the storm did real damage? Read does hail damage mean you need a new roof.

When is hail season in Springfield?

April and May are the most active hail months in Greene County, according to the National Weather Service. The April 28, 2026 storm fit that pattern. Book a check-up in late winter before the season starts, and again after any storm that drops hail on your street, because calls pile up right after a big storm.

If hail means a new roof, what does Springfield code require?

The city does not require a permit to replace a roof unless framing is changed or more than 32 contiguous square feet of deck is replaced. Springfield does not mandate an ice barrier, but low-slope sections between 2:12 and 4:12 need double underlayment, and rusted or damaged flashing and vents must be replaced.

Since June 2026 the city also requires an existing deck to meet the shingle maker spacing limits before new shingles go on. On older Springfield homes with plank decks, that can mean some deck repair during a hail replacement.

Do you handle wind and storm damage roof repair in Springfield too?

Yes. Wind lifts shingles along edges and ridges and brings limbs down on roofs. On October 20, 2019, an EF-0 tornado crossed southeast Springfield, damaging trees and a home roof, and a tree was blown onto a home near downtown. When water is getting in, we tarp the roof until repairs can be made.
